Digital Project Manager

at Recruit Digital in Kenilworth

My client is one of South Africa's biggest and oldest retailers with stores all over the country. They are entering all new levels of digital and marketing. They are on the lookout for a Digital Project Manager with over 5 years experience to join them in this venture. They are doing exciting things and now would e the time to join them and make your mark.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Digital project manager to lead and coordinate the delivery of digital projects.
  • Facilitate the definition, idea generation and delivery of projects that link to marketing strategies and integrate digital approaches and creative design.
  • Produce work plans and coordinate the efforts of the digital team, including creative, content, technical as well as digital and performance media.
  • Utilise project management best practices throughout the development and production processes.
  • Ensure the integrated elements of digital projects come together on time and meet stakeholder expectations in terms of user engagement, data integrity and product quality.
  • Effectively plan for both the conceptual and the production phases - as each adheres to tasks, milestones, deliverables & deadlines.
  • Validate the brief through a comprehensive understanding of the project requirements, objectives and deadlines.
  • Develop a detailed scope of work and project architecture based on the user journey, deliverables, milestones and dependencies.
  • Ensure that Production Plans are comprehensive, detailing activities per resource, deliverable and milestones.
  • Establish clear ownership for project tasks by understanding the resource requirements and deliverables.
  • Understand the implications of changes to the scope in terms of costs, resourcing and deadlines.
  • Work with agencies to draw up a budget based on the project scope and resource requirements.
  • Check resource availability and book accordingly.
  • Ensure that the digital team always know exactly what is expected of them and by when.
  • Communicate progress, risks, expectations, timelines, milestones and other key project metrics to the team.
  • Manage project scope to ensure that projects are delivered on time, according to scope budget, strategy expectations.
  • Evaluate all key project deliverables through to the final product to ensure traceability of requirements, high quality and internal client approval.
  • Create contingency plans with appropriate input from key team members and implement a revised plan, scope and budget if necessary in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Two to five years' experience in a project manager role preferably in a digital agency environment dealing with multiple projects and clients simultaneously.
  • Experience working on digital projects involving multiple advertising and/or digital agency environments in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to work under extreme pressure.
  • In-depth understanding of digital marketing best practices.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous retail experience would be advantageous.
  • 3-5 years managing team output.
